Why The "Highly Sensitive Person" Is An Ableist Term
It's another euphemism for Autistic: If you're going to say you're Autistic, just say you're Autistic!
We All Need Accommodations To Thrive
Some accommodations are normalized while others are pathologized. I just read an article arguing that highly sensitive people (HSP) and autistic people are not the same. The article then went on to describe all the ways in which they are, in fact, The. Same. Thing.
Most "Highly Sensitive People" are actually just heavily masked Autistics
At the beginning of last year, I wrote a piece entitled The “Highly Sensitive Person” is Code for Autistic, after reading a popular psychology article which claimed to differentiate the two, then described all the ways in which they are the same thing.
Then near the end of last year, a new article surfaced. At first I ignored it, as I had already covered this subject area. I thought I’d said all I needed to say on the matter.
I was sadly mistaken…
