In Thrice Upon a Time, I left us in mid-October, with me feeling hopeful that the worst was behind us and we could finally move on.
As I candidly admitted, I was very much mistaken.
After 5 1/2 weeks of fighting and waiting, we finally have confirmation that our vehicle repairs will be fully covered by my extended warranty. After being stranded* at home for 5 1/2 weeks because we live in the country and don’t have public transit, I am finally able to get a rental vehicle covered as well.
I say *stranded because I was in the technical sense. If my son needed to be picked up from school or I needed to attend an appointment, I wouldn’t have a vehicle to do so. I use an asterisk because I work from home and don’t like going out much, so aside from those types of situations, it really wasn’t a big deal to me.
Cue the return of awful communication from the mechanic and zero help from the manufacturer. It takes another three weeks for the repairs to be completed, and I still can’t get anyone to answer questions when I ask.
We’re now into early November and the weather is turning. I have to fly out to retrieve my vehicle and drive the 800 KMs (for American readers, that’s just under 500 miles) home. Flights are ridiculously expensive and prices only get higher the closer you get to your booking date.
I beg and plead with the dealership to pretty please provide more timely communication, but they completely ignore my appeals. Finally the vehicle is ready — hooray! Now they want the rental vehicle returned with less than 24 hours’ notice, but I can’t get a flight out for another two weeks. Great.
