Hyperfixation, hyperfocus, monotropism, and special interests
Mono = one or singular; Tropism = attention or focus.
Monotropism is a theory of Autism developed by Autistic people; initially conceptualized by Dinah Murray, Mike Lesser, and Wenn Lawson.
Monotropic minds tend to have our attention pulled more strongly towards a smaller number of interests at any given time, leaving fewer resources for other processes.
Autistic minds tend to concentrate resources on a few interests or concerns at any time, rather than distributing them widely.
