It’s not too much to ask

It’s one thing to provide accommodations and adaptations after they’ve been requested, or when you’re legally required to do so. It’s quite another to work hard to consider the needs of diverse communities.

It may sound daunting, but it’s not as difficult as it might seem. We can collaborate with disabled people, and actually listen when we receive feedback and suggestions for creating accessible and inclusive spaces.

Even better, our public institutions can make use of the wealth of information readily available at their fingertips, and begin planning with diverse people and needs in mind from the very start.
